Ever since I stepped into my first dance class at the age of eight, Dance has been a very important part of my life and my dream soon came to be that I would someday have a Studio of my own. After years of taking classes at the Carole Lane Studio, as a high school student I became involved with the Student Teaching Apprenticeship program. This would turn out to be the foundation of my ultimate desire to be a dance teacher. Upon graduation from Menomonee Falls North High School, I went on to audition and be accepted in the Milwaukee Ballet Company as one of its founding members. In addition to dancing with the Company, I continued to take classes within the Dance Department at UW-Milwaukee. During that time I also continued to follow my prime ambition of teaching by teaching a few classes at the Carole Lane Studio. It was a busy and diverse time of my life.
1972 was a true turning point. While still dancing with the Milwaukee Ballet Company, Carole Lane announced her intention to retire and offered me the opportunity to acquire her business. So with tremendous support from my parents, I got the opportunity to take over the studio and pursue my dream. At the very young age of 20, and an enrollment of maybe 50 students, the Nancy Dianne Studio of Dance, Ltd. came to be.
The past 45 years have been a terrific journey. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of another generation of dancers. We believe we offer a high quality program including a facility specifically designed and built for dance instruction. However, and much more importantly, we are fortunate to have assembled one of the finest and most qualified teaching staffs available to area dance students. Our staff includes instructors who have competed college level degree programs in the Fine Arts as dance majors, as well as a Master Instructor who is regularly a guest instructor at Dance Conferences and meetings nationwide. Additionally, each of our instructors regularly participates in conferences and seminars to stay up to date on the latest developments in dance and teaching techniques. We are also proud to note that a number of our current instructors were students of the Studio, including my daughter Heather Kempen. It is extremely gratifying to see them carry on the legacy and objectives of the Studio and we believe that few organizations can provide this level of experience and talent to its students.
We are a family oriented business and seek to provide the best learning environment and experience possible for our students. I look forward to welcoming you to The Nancy Dianne Studio of Dance, Ltd. family.
